About

Hi,

My names is Bill Deakin and I’ve been involved in the games industry since 2002.  As a games developer I know the importance of testing, what a vital role games testers play in the development process, and what the long hours known as “crunch time” before a game gets released is like.

Like you, I’m a gamer.  I grew up playing games in the arcades, on home computers and consoles.  I’ve had just about every platform over the past 20 years from the Atari 2600 and the NES, to the Xbox 360 and modern PC.  Over that time I’ve played literally thousands of titles, and worked as a games developer so I understand both sides of the tester/developer relationship.

I decided to put this site together to help people who might be considering a career in the games development industry and are looking to get their “foot in the door” as a tester, or gamers who just want to earn some extra money while doing what they love – playing games!

There is a lot of mis-information on the Internet, and a lot of people who claim to be experts on the games industry who really don’t know what they’re talking about.  Hopefully this site will give you the information you need and set you in the right direction to becoming a games tester.

Be sure to download my book How To Become A Game Tester, and do drop me a line to let me know how you get on!

All the best,

Bill
